Google's AI Mode Will Now Track Flight Prices and Book Your Hotel
SourceTechCrunch· 3h ago

Google is adding trip planning and booking to AI Mode, its conversational search experience. Users can now track flight prices, book hotels, and see costs priced in points or miles.

What it does

Describe when and where you want to fly, and AI Mode returns the best options with current prices from more than 300 airlines and travel sites. From there you can build an itinerary directly, or ask it to "track these flight prices for me" and receive an email when they move. Price tracking is live in more than 180 countries. Hotel discovery and booking work through the same interface.

The shift underneath

The change is not the feature list; it is the direction of the product. Search has historically ended by handing you a link — Google finds the airline, the airline takes the booking, and the transaction happens somewhere else.

AI Mode keeps the transaction inside the conversation. That moves Google from directing traffic to travel sites toward competing with them for the booking itself, which is a different relationship with the 300 partners now supplying the prices.

It is also where the economics point. A referral is worth a fraction of a booking, and every large AI product is currently searching for revenue that scales better than advertising against an expensive inference bill.
