Solana is up sharply. SOL climbed more than 8% in 24 hours and is closing in on its best month since 2024, up roughly 44% since August began and back above $105 for the first time since January.

The rally arrives on the day validators close a vote on whether the network should issue less SOL and burn considerably more of it. That is not a coincidence — traders have spent the week pricing in a supply squeeze before it is official.

What is being voted on

Voting wraps at around 15:30 UTC as epoch 1023 ends, an epoch being the two-to-three day stretch Solana uses as its internal clock.

Three proposals are bundled under Solana Governance Proposals, a new on-chain system that for the first time lets validators and the people who delegate stake to them cast binding, stake-weighted votes.

One ratifies a Solana Constitution formalising how that voting works from here. The other two move the price conversation: SIMD-550, filed by engineers at the infrastructure firm Helius, would double Solana's disinflation rate, and SIMD-553 addresses burns.

The part that outlasts the price move

The monetary policy change is what traders are trading. The constitution is what matters longer.

Until now, changes to Solana's economics have been settled through rough consensus among client teams and large validators. A binding stake-weighted vote replaces that with a formal process — one that also concentrates influence in proportion to stake, which is the trade every on-chain governance system makes and rarely states plainly.
