Someone Filed 'GTA VI Token' Proposals With the SEC Under Take-Two's Name — and a Memecoin Moved

Two public-comment PDFs sitting on a US Securities and Exchange Commission docket describe a proposed Grand Theft Auto VI currency called Sharkbux, complete with Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games branding and talk of an SPL-token implementation on Solana. What they lack is any evidence the companies actually wrote them.

The SEC's docket index lists an August 24 comment under Take-Two's corporate name, supplementing an August 18 document that lays out the supposed design: ordinary players could not transfer Sharkbux freely, transfers would run through company-mediated mechanisms, and approved creators could redeem earned units through a controlled program.

What the documents don't contain

The supplemental filing describes a possible Solana token architecture "subject to legal and operational considerations" — but names no token mint, no mint authority, no freeze authority, and no deployed program. In other words, everything checkable is absent. Anyone can submit a comment to an SEC docket under any name; the agency does not authenticate submitters.

The likeliest explanation, as the reporting notes, is an attempt to pump an unaffiliated memecoin — one of the files references a Solana wallet, and Sharkbux-adjacent tokens saw trading activity as screenshots of the docket circulated.

The griefing economy comes to EDGAR

The episode says less about GTA VI than about a new attack surface. Official-looking government dockets are now raw material for token promotion: file a PDF with the right logos, wait for crypto Twitter to find it, and let the SEC's own URL lend it credibility. Regulators have procedures for fraudulent press releases; fraudulent comment letters are a newer problem.

Until Take-Two says otherwise, there is no Rockstar crypto plan — there is a PDF. The distance between those two things is where memecoin traders live, and this week somebody monetized it.
